Northern Light Zen Center

Membership

Membership is not required to participate in Northern Light Zen Center activities. Coming to the Zen Center and just practicing is enough. When one feels motivated to give, donations or membership is a way to express appreciation and support the activities of the center.

Becoming a Member

According to traditional Buddhist teaching, generosity to the sangha is the highest form of giving. Becoming a member of the Kwan Um School of Zen (KUSZ) helps support your local Center, the international School, and the transmission of Zen teaching. Fifty percent of membership dues go directly to your local center to support practice, training and retreats. The other half goes to the KUSZ to support monastic training, publications, the teaching activities of teachers and the general administration of an international organization dedicated to helping the all beings wake up to their original self .

Benefits of Membership

All membership dues are fully tax deductible. Full membership entitles one to reduced rates for retreats and workshops. All members receive a free subscription to Primary Point, the journal of the Kwan Um School, and the quarterly school newsletter. Primary Point is an excellent resource for Zen teaching and for connecting with the other Zen Centers all over the world.

If you live in North America, you can become a member or pay your dues online at www.kwanumzen.org
